I'm in the middle of building my coop, things aren't going well. I'm swearing up a storm and all the lot. My neighbor hears me and lets me barrow his compound miter saw.

Can you say EASY!!?? OMG, how much of a difference it makes if you have the right tools!

Sounds like my hubby...We don't always hae the right tool for the job...Our last venture...putting up electric fence and repairing barbed wire. Can not say enough about being prepared first....
We went into it with NOT the right tools. The first couple pokes from the barb weren't bad...BUT AFTER ABOUT 10 TIMES IT GOT REAL OLD REAL FAST..
But it seems as if we never have any of the right tools for the jobs....fencing, coops, pens, corrals, lambing jugs, pig pens, and on and on and on and on...But they jobs got done ok...

My kids laugh at me because I have more tools than most men have and make good use of them. They they know who to call if they need drills, nail guns, compound miter saw(cuts metal fence rails with right blade) just to name a few.

I am pretty sure my huband invents jobs so that he can get new tools. I'm not a big fan of buying tools, but he knows I like having the right tool.

He doesn't try to sell me on tools anymore, he tries to sell me on jobs.

My husband gauges the success of a project not by the finished product, but instead by the quantity of new power tools he gets to buy. I have to be careful with my honey-do list...

This also sounds like my hubby....
As in my previous post...We don't always have the right tools for the job...
But if he decideds something needs to be done, by george it gets done. Sometimes running out for just the right tool.

I made the mistake of taking him to a garage sale with me a few weeks back ....I needed his help loading shingles I picked up there. Well anyway I have never seen a man in all his glory...It was worse than a kid in a candy store. He started grabbing tools left and right and making his own "I need these" piles. (kind of reminded me of Steve Martin in -The Jerk- when he goes through his...I don't need nothin' but these............................ )We left almost an hour later...a little bit poorer, but had a truck bed full of tools. That he might just need someday.
And where were those much needed tools when it was time to do the fencing yesterday??? oh yeah that's right we didn't have them. He managed to not get anything that would of really helped us with that.

Building something is ALWAYS an excuse to get new tools!!

Putting in my new coop has resulted in a new compound miter saw with a custom table, a new cement mixer, and a framing nail gun. And DH keeps mentioning that his compressor needs replacing.

We've used the cement mixer to pour the foundation, the saw to cut the form lumber, and will be using the existing table saw to rip the used lumber we have to correct dimensions, the miter saw to cut them to length and do the angles, and the framing nailer to put them together this weekend. Trying to do all that with hand tools, even with a circular saw, would take so much longer and be soooo frustrating.

My husband wants a table saw.

I mean, seriously. He's a systems administrator. A table saw?

I keep holding out, hoping he will think of something REALLY COOL to build me as an excuse to get one.
