the right type of sand?

Brief overview: was using natural dirt flooring for coop/run, wanted to switch to sand to reduce dust and make it more sanitary/easier to scoop poop.

I had to get soil for my garden beds so I ordered some sand too. I asked the company if it was OK for use in a chicken coop and they said it would be fine.

Its screened granite/granite sand. The particle size seems pretty small. Is this ok to use in the run?

Its also still semi damp (not wet but easily clumps when I squeeze it in my hand). Assuming this is ok to use in the first place, should I wait for it to be completely dry or is it ok to add now?

I'd wait until it's dry, but yes it should be fine to use in the coop. Wet sand = stinky poop. I love being able to scoop the poop from my coop It stays nice and clean.
