When my middle boy turned 16 he was already sporting a full beard and was man sized. Everywhere we went folks assumed he was my boyfriend or husband. It didn't matter what event we attended, for some reason folks just assumed we were a couple and that my youngest was our son(only 2 years younger than the middle son). I got a hoot out of it but I'm sure it embarrassed him to death. All I could figure is this~either they thought I was a cradle robber or he looked old but was still into much older women or I that I acted like a kid so much and got along so well with my teenagers that they thought I was just younger than I look. I thought it would make him feel bad but he always took it in stride and now we joke about it a lot.

I was recently in the hospital, and the nurse called my Fiance (who is only one year older than I), my mother. I still giggle inside.
I have a baby face I guess. Funny, because she buys into all these face creams 'anti-aging' BS, and I only wash my face with water.
She couldn't wash the humiliation after being called my mom for the second time in a year. The first time came from a child in our neighbourhood. Oh I have so much fun with that

I bet you do!! DH would never let me live that down!

Oh boy that would embarrass me!!

People should never just assume.

I guess they just weren't used to seeing teenage boys who liked their mom. My boys will put their arms over my shoulders or hug me in public...always did. We are a close and huggy family but in no way have we ever acted like a couple, so we were always baffled. A lady attended church with us for a few years before she figured out Eli was my son and not my husband. He didn't look THAT old!!!

Acuqaintances of mine used to think my dad was my husband. You'd think that would get under mama's skin, but she would always just laugh about it!! I always wondered if that meant Daddy looked that young, or I looked that old!!

That's what we could never figure...does he look that old or do I look that young? Of course, the boys always accused me of being old enough to have dated Moses, so we assumed he just looked that old!

I can't even begin to say how impressed I am with Bulldogma's site!! I've been perusing it and am blown away at how full it already is! I'm so glad that I can now direct newbies to a site that has the info organized.

Freeze Update on the cup waterers.

I've only had a couple nights that got into the 20's so far so this is an "early report". Keep in mind that I have a bird bath heater in the bucket so the water in the bucket is between 40 - 60 degrees at any given time. My concern for freezing has been the water inside the little necks leading into the cup.

The nights that it got that cold, on cup B (see photo below), the mechanism froze. It's the one with the little metal spring in there and I'm thinking that metal spring is what was freezing up. I pushed on it and tried to get the water flow open and was eventually able to but I know that the chicken beak wouldn't have been able to get it flowing. Now that was after only a few hours at 25 degrees so I imagine if it gets down and stays in the 20's that one won't work very well.

Cup A did not freeze.

I had the same results on both freezing nights. Of course, if there is any water pooled in the cups that will freeze also, but these are designed to only let water down when the beak toggles the "nipple" and there is usually very little water in the cup at any given time.

Today I removed cup B and replaced it with another "cup A". I'll update again after we've had a longer cold-spell.

Cup type A. (So far I like this one best. It is the less expensive at $1.70 ea.)

Cup type B ($3.00 ea. Mechanism is replaceable inside when the internal sealing ring goes bad.)

I agree!! Bulldogma had been quite busy and is doing such a GREAT JOB!! My mind can't stay in one place that long, jumps from here to there. I can't even get the house straigntened up because I leave the kithen with something that belongs in the bathroom, see something in the bathroom I need to do. In the middle of that, I'll take something that belongs in the bedroom to the bedroom, start a little project in there and the cycle goes on and on and on and NOT ONE SINGLE THING gets completed!!
