Just a little update on the FF use :
I was finding too much left stuck on the bottom of the pans I was using to feed, so I started just feeding them on the ground, outside the coop. Now they finish every bit. They don't scratch and make the huge mess I expected, like they do with dry.
The new "wealth" of eggs has continued, 4 eggs a day, up from 2 all late-summer/early fall. There may have been 5 yesterday, as I found one in a makeshift nest in the broody pen this morning that was ice cold, so I am guessing it was from yesterday.
I haven't noticed anything weird about the poos, but then I haven't exactly examined them.
Everyone seems really happy to eat the FF (besides forage, there isn't a choice) and they all seem to be very well.
It is too soon to report any change in condition, but I am so thrilled about the eggs coming again!!!

Merlin, the kitten is also enjoying his pilfered ration of the FF and seems fine and fit. The weirdo

D'oh! So simple, and yet I never thought to do this. Now I can have my turkey roasting pan back.

That is exactly why I shared it, here! I felt like a real boob not to have thought of it days before, thus saving waste AND my need to wash 5 pans twice a day!
(I also realized if I rinse the pan and spoons I do use back into the feed can, I can throw that water (and feed bits) back into the pot I use to make it, and save even more waste)

I found this out with Johnny too. I take out a bowl with his serving for the morning up until mid day. Maybe because his comb is so huge or the texture was not that interesting he likes it but would not finish it. Now I dump it in the grass outside the barn when he is out for the day. He eats every last crumb in that way. No waste. I'm thinking maybe it will be different when he has to share with four pullets come next month. There will be that scramble with everyone getting what they can before it's gone.

Mumsy I made the suet cakes today let it sit in the frig for most of the day, took it out just a bit ago and wow did they all eat on it, even the ducks which usually they stick their noses up at anything new. Wish the ducks would eat the ff the way they were eating the cake.

My ducks love the FF. The hens that are on nest when they hear me coming at feed time they start talking to me.(I just love Muscovy talk when they are incubating) As soon as I open the door to the nursery, they both get off the nests and chow down.
