Have we asked how the food's consistency was?Have you tried throwing it on the ground? Mine went through a stage where they wouldn't eat it and after dumped it on the ground they ate it right up.
My birds like it thick, and hate when it is thin.

I feel much worse for Maryhysong than myself. I only lost one young rooster - she lost many more, and had to take down the predators. How brave, and tragic at the same time.I'm a day behind here, but I want to say how sorry I am for aoxa and maryhysong for your losses. I know how that feels for sure. I lost 4 of my chicks once to my own dog.
Quote: Congrat's on your first eggs. Good point about the eggs at 20wks and short cold days being related to the FF.
Quote: Yes, I agree. So many strong ladies here on BYC. Maryhysong is certainly brave.
I don't have a RIR rooster sadly.. :/ I was thinking about getting one, but am still on the fence. I have so many breeds that I'm working on, and RIR is just one of the many that I call my yard candyYou RIR is a beauty. You should hoard her eggs this spring and hatch out a few chicks to keep a couple replacement hens.
Looks like a really good broody! My RIR is crossed with OP and Cornish. She lays all through the winter yet. She is only 2 so she had better. I am considering hatching from her this year myself. She is a huge bird. Almost 9 lbs. This is an old picture..I wonder if she has changed in looks after I started the FF. Might be interesting to check.
