Well I made Nu stock last night, actually I made it last night then remade it this morning, I used Bag balm codliver oil, pine tar and sulfur all put in to a double broiler, well i wasn't happy with it last night just didn't have the smoothness i was looking for, so I dug it all out this morning put it in my mixing bowl and added some coconut oil to the mix used the bread kneeding things that go on my mixer and got it smooth as silk. I just kept mixing until I got it smooth, last night hubby was wanting to use it to patch the concrete on our patio it was so hard and dry looking. I used it tonight on my hen that has then small blk scab of bumble foot, actually it never progressed to full blown bumble because of the Nu stock i was using on her. But boy did this go on smooth and stay, no more runny stuff and getting it all over me and her. mostly me. I made enough to last a life time too probably. I wasn't able to use the whole bag of sulfur but theres alot in it. Thanks Bee for all the awesome home recipes. My flock thanks you too. Also made the laundry detergent and I really like it too.

It can help but it may not cure it...try it(mother ACV) and let us know? What your husband is having is a fungal infection from the strong antibiotics killing all the natural flora in his body. I always advise to limit sugar intake, take olive leaf extract(very good antifungal) and repopulate that good flora with cultured and fermented foods. It may need more than a mere rinsing of the mouth because that is only the portion of the digestive tract that you can SEE but I'm sure it extends further than just the mouth. Those antibiotics are systemic and broad spectrum...meaning they kill everything they get their little hands on...except the harmful yeast.

Mother vinegar goes well in Italian salad dressing if you want a sneaky way to put it into his diet each day...

The olive leaf...worth the investment and you may find it cheaper other places but here's a link of one place:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_s...+extract+capsules&sprefix=olive+leaf+,aps,377

10 drops of grapeseed extract, 10 drops of ACV, 1 teaspoon honey. mix together and swish in mouth.
One yogurt a day
Should take about two days

just 2 teaspoons of ACV in a glass of tepid water first thing each morning.
Bragg's recipe says morning & nite ,but i just did mornings & found it enough to get the job done .
u can add a teaspoon of honey if u can't stand the taste lol.
my research suggests it -balances the chemicals in yr body, helps create energy, good gut flora ,reduces excess mucus, helps liver function
been great for my chickens & me .
yr advice & yr experience with the gnarly bunch was what started my research Bee, so thanks.
my life is so much better now ,I sold on ACV in a big way
cheers Pete
Thanks everyone ..... I wrote this down and will have him do this. I honestly believe that this "yellow tongue" that resulted from all the antibiotics that were prescribed to DH a year ago is now affecting his health. He is now chronically fatiqued and drags himself off to work every night ....he's a graveyard shift truck driver. I'll report back with results! LOL Maybe he'll let me take before and after pictures.

Fighting a constant infection such as yeast can make you very fatigued. Your body will actually crave carbs and sugars for that energy boost you get but unwittingly it is just feeding the fungus...yeast feeds on sugars and so a person gets into a bad cycle of feeling tired, eating fast energy, which feeds the very thing that is making you tired.

Please let us know what happens? Would be cool to hear about any success you have with this treatment.

make sure he gets out in the sunshine and fresh air everyday too; working graveyard and not getting outdoors in the sun messes up your hormones and pituitary gland and can cause you to become depressed..... been there done that. It was winter so I never really was out in the sun. It's not so bad in the summer with the longer days. Now my boss doesn't put me on graveyard except for short periods of time when we are real short staffed.

Yay for homemade NS!!!! So, when do we get a pic of the finished product?

The pic I posted showed the mix before I added a ton more of the sulfur powder, so now it's much more yellow but still just as creamy. I'm so glad you got the texture worked out for spreadability...I really hated the goopiness of the original formula and how much it makes you waste it.

It's kind of neat to make something cheaper, better and more usable...if only everything in life were that simple!

That's why I'm here...to say the things that others are reluctant to say.  ;)   In this world folks are so scared to have strong values or take a strong stance on a subject in fear that someone will label them "intolerant".  That word is thrown around a lot nowadays like it's something bad.  It's not.  I'm intolerant of many, many things and it's not bad to know where you are in the this world and just how much you will swallow before it chokes you.

Being intolerant~for me~ does not indicate heard hearted-ness, ignorance or hatred...rather, it should indicate that one has put a lot of thought into what is good or bad for their lives and will not tolerate the bad being there.  Sort of like not tolerating a copperhead to live under your front porch steps...sooner or later this situation may put someone in danger or hurt someone.

The only time intolerance is bad is when it turns into violence, hatred or, even worse, indifference, to your fellow man.  I can love and nurture someone through their pain and suffering and still be very intolerant of their lifestyle and their actions.  It is called upon us to do so and I try to do it.  If I see something that I know to be a bad thing, I'll speak up and say, "To me, that is a bad thing."  Not everyone has to believe me or listen to me, even...but there will be some that will think, "Gee, I'm glad someone pointed that out because now I see it too.  Glad I didn't try that, go there, eat that, etc."

That's what makes the thread so good....we can all not have any fear of saying what we feel because we know that we are all saying it from a heart-felt place and not from idle rabble rousing to make others feel bad.  I don't say that gal's method is bad to make others feel bad for using it, I say it because of what I know about killing chickens and from what I see happening in that chicken's body.  It's deceptive to describe this method as saying it is more peaceful and good for the bird when anyone with a good eye for how chickens act when they are frightened can see that is just so much white wash for the person and not so much peace and love for the animal.

When you want to know about building something correctly, you see a carpenter...not just any carpenter, but one who is good and honest by repute.  When you want surgery, you see a surgeon...not just any surgeon, you want experience and success under that scrub top.  When you want to know about killing animals, you reference someone who has done it many times for many years...and not just anyone but someone who shows a true compassion for the animals they kill.  That's really what it comes down to.

LOL! I have to say, whether you agree or disagree with me I'm always giggling in appreciation with what you have to say. Exactly because you just SAY IT. I appreciate that. Ok I'm sappy. I do appreciate that woman's attitude. But I recognize that I've never had 20 lined up to process with a dozen (or even no) helpers chomping at the bit. And if I did? Dangit, they can just wait! That's just the way it is! LOL!!

Love the Bee!

I got some NuStock a couple of weeks ago and put it in an old ketchup container. Best idea I ever had. Some of the oil had actually escaped from the original NuStock container. What a crazy bottle idea. Anyway, I have to shake it up a little in the squeeze ketchup container, but it works well.

Glad I bought it.

Today, had an incident with one of the chickens. Of course it was the Wyandotte. She is top on the chopping block. I weighed her a week ago and she was 3 lbs 4 ounces. Not big enough to eat, so she will stay until we can eat her. I think she might lay first, too. She's around 20 weeks old. I keep three of these chickens in a mobile coop right now. While I was changing the water, two of them escaped. While I was trying to get them back in the coop, this Wyandotte went crazy and ended up buggering up her comb. It was bleeding pretty good.

So, I took her out, cleaned up the cuts and put on some NuStock. Then, put her back in the coop. Those other chickens had a heyday picking at her. So, my husband put her in the haveahart cage we bought (haveahart means nothing to me. So far, we've killed whatever has ended up in that cage. LOL), and we stuck the cage back into the coop. Later on this afternoon, I took her out, put some rooster booster on her cuts and put her back into the coop. Those other chickens didn't hardly peck at her. They pecked because they wanted to check and see what was new, but nothing like this morning.

Now, I'm new to chicken keeping, and now I know I should have just let that Wyandotte out with the rest of them and herded them together.

However, I am thinking that maybe the yellow color of the NuStock was attracting the other chickens to pick at her.

Or, maybe it was the smell of the blood. She was pretty coated in NuStock, and it smelled a lot like sulfur to me, but chickens may have more sensitive noses than I do. Sure was glad we had that livetrap to keep her close to her coop mates. They are all fast asleep now. Will see how she does in the morning when I go to feed them.
