thanks. Far from my 1st.... still sucks. And I need to butcher my favorite drake after taking care of the girls

So sorry for your drake.

I used Nustock on the pullet that my neighbor's dog got earlier this year. She had internal injuries, but the NS seemed to help a little. I don't know a lot, though, as she only lived until the next day.

I also put NS on one of my chickens (yes, it was the Wyandotte) who got all in a tizzy one day and bloodied up her comb on the hardware wire in the mobile coop. The other chickens pecked at the NS, so I put some rooster booster on her and that covered it up enough that they stopped pecking. I think they were in too close proximity to one another as we don't have a good free ranging option right now. Maybe in the spring...

I'd use NS and maybe the blue kote to cover up the color of the NS if you think there will be pecking. Otherwise, I think the NS is the way to go. My shed now always smells like NS and I'm thinking that maybe NS is how a shed is supposed to smell. :)

Interesting volume note:
When I first started FF I noted that the 6 birds ate 50 LBS FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER  an OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT for 6 birds!  They were eating this even with the added sprouts.

Then, for November, they reduced their own intake to about 1/4 - 1/3 of a 50 lb bag for the whole month.  I didn't do anything different - just gave them what they would eat and waited until any extra was gone.

I'm thinking they were getting ready for winter and self-regulated in November.  Think that's good theory?
That is almost a pound a week more than they should be eating

That's 50 lbs dry, or 50 lbs fermented? Crazy either way!

Last fall I had 21 birds that I overwintered. They went through 100 pounds every month when there was no foraging.

Yes...that's my point! Never saw such eating volume until I started FF. Pretty freaky. And yes, it was dry weight. Go figure!

Now they are back to normal...probably 1/4 bag for the whole month - maybe less, actually.

Strangest thing I ever saw - and no one gained weight...the RIR's are still their "slim" self, the BR's always look meatier no matter, but no gain on them either, the Aracauna's look slim and normal.

Any chance your dogs were getting into it? My dogs go crazy for FF.. I have to watch them closely when they are out. Don't want them to get sick.

Minks are terrible! You get that mink.. Please let us know.
A friend of mine lost a whole lot of show birds to the buggers. They took out half a coop last fall. All the young ones too..
oh I will! That blankedy blank blank is going DOWN!
