The Royals are producing

I have heard this before (about having a rooster and getting eggs earlier). I don't have a rooster, so maybe that's the difference. What breeds do you have? Your eggs look different from one another (shades of brown/tan).
I enjoy "talking chicken" makes the winters go faster Ha! We have 2 RI Reds, 1 Golden Comet and 2 Silver Laced Wynodottes. We were given 6 hatchlings and we jokingly named them after the Royals as I have British ancestry, then came Cluckingham Palace and the sickness began. It has been a hoot. We acquired a Maran rooster from a friend. One of the RI Reds turned out to be a rooster, so Camilla was renamed Camille and re homed. We think they are a pretty nice bunch. I do think that if I were going to get birds for production only I would choose the Comet. She is smaller, I think the first to lay and is the most consistent. The Wyners are really big birds, very pretty but BIG! I like the varity tho. What do you have? The dark brown egg is from the Comet. The paler ones from the Wyners we think.

I love talking chicken, too. I'm sure my friends and family get tired of it-thank goodness for BYC! I have 2 Easter Eggers, Chloe and Maize, two Black Australorps, Winn and Dixie, and a Swedish Flower Hen, Elsa. They are 36 weeks old. Elsa is not laying yet, but I "talked" to another member on the SFH thread here who said she had some who were 40 weeks old and not laying yet. Elsa is definitely the "queen" of the group, so she will take her own royal time to produce! We were afraid for awhile that she was a rooster because of her behavior (protector of the flock, always the first to investigate "scary things," etc.) She is definitely a pullet, just taking her own sweet time to give me an egg! My first (and up until a couple of weeks ago) best producer was Chloe-an egg a day, no days off, but for some reason she has been going through a molt-brrr! My Australorps give me nice brown eggs, I get blue eggs from the Easter Eggers (Maize's have a hint of green so I can tell them apart), and Elsa should lay light brown/beige eggs.
