This is just a question for the group about the process of egg laying because I’m curious. I’m new to ducks this year, so I’m learning a lot (or trying to at least ).
3 of my 4 girls just started laying this past month. I noticed this morning that my Khaki Campbell (who I suspect laid her first egg today—due to the color) has kind of a wet looking vent. Nothing is hanging from it, and it doesn’t look discolored or anything, I was just wondering if ducks produce some kind of lubricant to lay their eggs?
It just kind of looks like her little “butt feathers” are wet and splayed out around her vent more than usual. Again, nothing crazy, it’s just not her normal looking butt and I’m wondering if maybe it has something to do with her laying her first egg.
Photo of her, just because she’s cute ❤
