The Silver Laced Wyandotte Thread

I was wondering if it is to cold for me to start incubating some eggs. I live in Montana so it gets pretty cold. but I keep them in the house when they are little

I live in Utah and ask myself the same question, 'after' I already started some eggs in the incubator. Our Spring has been so mild, I think
I got carried away before I really thought it out, lol. I raise my chicks in the house to, hoping to put them outside at around 5 -6 wks. That's as long as I can stand the dust in the houe! Hopefully it is warm by that time to put the chicks outside. Your Springs are probably as tempermental as ours, so by even April we could get snow and I am stuck with the chicks inside longer than I wish. If I were you I would wait just a bit more - if you can!

thanks. I think I should wait becuos its still cold outside and we are only getting two maybe three eggs a day. and I am hoping to hatch two or three dosson silver laced Wyandottes. and I don't want to have them in the basement but three maybe four weeks. Im hoping to get some blrws to breed with my silvers next year. anyway so think I should start incubating end of febuary. thanks

Here are some new pictures of my SLWs. I just got a new camera and wanted to check it out. We have so much mud here in Tucson, AZ now. It's gross. I don't know how the rest of you do it!

French Fry ... a hen

Jack-Jack the Roo

Jack-Jack the Roo: the picture is a little overexposed, but he does have black in his saddle feathers.

I scraped all the poo mix off the top of ground in the pen. Sooooo gross. I am so not used to Poop Soup.

Gorgeous!

I think I am going to put some eggs In the incubator this week.and was wondering when sould I order the birds I was going to buy from the hatchery. I want them to be the same age so I can put them outside to gether so I don't have a bunch of chicks in our basement a long time.

You should order now so you don't miss out. (May times the hatcheries have "sold out dates") You should order them for delivery as close to 3 weeks from the day you put yours in as you can.
