The Silver Laced Wyandotte Thread

Pics
My family is new to owning chickens. I had some as a teen and showed them but that has been a few years (don't ask how long LOL!). We just bought our first chicks 9 days ago. So they are now almost 2 weeks old. I am so excited to be starting out with this breed! Thought i'd share a few pics.

Day #1

Day #1

My middle son and his favorite

My oldest babies them all.

Almost 2 weeks old. Getting plenty of feathers

Day #1, my youngest loves watching them

My favorite chick!!!

We had an escapee overnight so I had to quickly finish the top to the brooder. Hot glue and tulle. LOL!

Thank you :). I am trying hard to get them as close to the standard as I can.

At the Southeast Ohio Poultry Breeders Association Show and these are my winnings

>1st place silver laced Wyandotte cock, best variety
>1st place silver laced Wyandotte hen, reserve variety

I have been lurking on here for a couple of days. It was nice to see a thread dedicated to SLW's. I have one with chicks I bought from a hatchery and they were hatched on February 11th, so they are 7 weeks tomorrow. I would love to have one of the heritage SLW's, I have been looking at your pics on here and they are beautiful.

What do you think of our SLW? I believe she is a hen since she does not have much of a comb yet and she does have a lot of lacing, but nothing like those heritage birds. One of these days I will have to get some hatching eggs. I am new to having chickens of my own, so one step at a time.

Here's some pictures of our SLW. They are straight run, about 4.5 weeks old. Too soon to tell the sex? We're hoping for pullets, they moved into their coop today along with 6 others:

Forgive our newbness, this is our first time raising BYC, just got the coop secured/final build done.
Painting is next.
