That is ' bumble foot ' , if the core has dropped out you need to disinfect the sight and spray with a good wound spray , I use Terramycin . It is best to keep him in a clean dry area to keep bacteria out, if that is at all possible.

I would flush the wound with saline in a syringe so you can squirt any debris out , spray and vet wrap it .

What causes bumble foot?

It's a staph infection. Quite often caused by birds jumping from high perches to the ground the underside or ball of the foot is damaged and then bacteria get in. More common in heavier birds.
