A man covered with a bear pelt quickly walked through the woods with an emotionless expression. He checked behind him every once in a while, and continued climbing rocks, walking through streams.
Finally he reached a large cave. The man stopped in his tracks for a few seconds, and turned into a bear, with no sign that he was human before.
As distant shouts drew nearer, the man-bear retreated to his cave and hoped that with his massive size, the tribe would not bother him.
The warriors of a Native American tribe arrived at the cave, and it was obvious that their intent was to kill whatever was in there.
"Come out!" One of them shouted, and a low rumble came from the cave.
The massive bear emerged from the darkness of the cave and roared at them. Some of the men cowered a little, this bear was larger than anything they've ever seen.
The leader of the warriors stabbed at the bear, but with a few swipes from its massive paws he was laying on the ground, dead. The other men decided that the bear was too strong for them, at least for now, and ran off.
The bear calmly went back into his cave, taking the deceased human with him for a meal.
Once the warriors came back to their tribe empty-handed, the leader of the tribe grew angry.
"I have sent you out multiple times to kill the Skinwalker! And each time, you have come empty handed! He is killing all of the beautiful creatures in our land, for pelts. For power. It is endangering them all, and in turn, us. This is a disgrace, he must be killed." The leader said and shook his head hopelessly.
Winter was right around the corner, and there seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel. In the winter they cannot risk the lives of their men for battle, and they couldn't risk having more families slaughtered by that monster. They would have to try everything they could to kill the Skinwalker, but nobody had any idea how.
As night drew near, families went into their homes and hoped that the Skinwalker wouldn't come that night. But as the dead leafs lying on the ground could be heard rustling, everyone doubted that their hopes would be met.
Despite the fact that everyone was supposed to be hiding in their homes, one girl was sitting in a tree. Her family had always told her about the Skinwalker, but she had never seen it. And now that she was older, she was a little bit desperate to.
As the noises drew nearer, she eagerly stood up on the thick branch and stared into the darkness, hoping to catch a glimpse of something. She saw the face of a man, who wore a large bear pelt, and suddenly the branch she was standing on broke. She fell to the ground and gasped, wincing as her back hit the thick branch and luckily didn't break anything.
A voice came from her home, it was her father.
"Alameda!" He shouted, sounding rather angry. He came out to take her inside, but the Skinwalker had already made an attempt to kill her.
The next morning, everything was calm again. Alameda had large gashes on her arms and one of her legs, but nothing more, and it seemed she'd heal.
Younger men and women were often hurt by the Skinwalker, due to curiosity. But once you saw him, you were under his power until you were rescued. So it was often that you didn't survive.
Everyone continued working hard, and hoped that they could possibly stay safe tonight.
(Summary: There is a creature called the Skinwalker lurking about. It is a human that can turn into any animal, as long as it wears the animal's pelt. This creature comes most nights to kill the tribe, but now as winter approaches, they have a new problem. The Skinwalker probably would back off a little, but the tribe now needs to survive the harsh weather that is up ahead.
This takes place before the Native Americans were driven out, and that war will not take place in this role play.
You cannot be the Skinwalker.)
