My Pitbull killed 2 of my buff's and then unearthed them, dragged them all over the yard, and rolled all over them

I can bathe her, but I reburied the chickens and nuked the spots where I found the bodies with ammonia...I can't get rid of the smell!

I'm afraid my neighbors are going to complain...it's the grossest smell ever.

Any advice on getting rid of the smell?

If it were me, I'd dig up the chickens, triple bag them, and put them in the trash the morning of pickup. Then I'd lime the area in which they'd been buried to kill the smell. Unless you were really attached to these birds as pets, there's really no need to feel bad about throwing them in the trash, in my opinion, since their decaying bodies will just attract predators to your remaining birds.

If you can't bring yourself to throw them out, then I'd dig them up and dig the hole deeper, then triple bag them, put them back in the hole with lime directly on the bodies, cover them up, and then lime the top of the grave.

Sorry to hear about your dog and your chickens.

Olli...
Sorry, I laughed when I first read your post. I suppose it's not so funny being in your shoes.
I agree, I would keep the dead animals not in your yard, especially with digging dogs.
And then ask the neighbors if they can smell that skunk, that was around during the night?

I love the skunk comment!!!

I usually add things that can decay (bones ect) to the burn barrel.....unluckily our burn barrel washed away in the last flood....

Our dogs have noses that are just too good to bury anything.....the SAR dog is suppose to be able to find buried things...so I would say burying is no longer an option for you now. Your dog now knows what his nose is telling him.....

Send em to sleep with the fishes.

I buried a chicken in the horse manure pile (years ago) since it was the middle of winter and the ground was frozen. The chicken would appear completey frozen in the middle of my yard (just as buried), behind my car, etc.. even though I would bury it, each time, higher and deeper than the time before. All I can figure is one of my dogs wanted to have it around.

Sorry for your loss, the trash idea is a good one imo.
