Hey Guys! Appreciate any help
I was given a hen June 11/25 who had a crop impaction sour crop and pendulous crop.
Nothing I tried with Monistat or herbals was helping at all and she kept wasting. 5 days ago I made the decision that I was going to pull her off her pellets since they’re carbs .. carbs = sugar and yeast needs sugar. I also decided I was going to implement neem oil diluted with black seed oil to try to stop replication as she was almost dead and if it didn’t work I would cull her the next day. Needless to say I knew within 6 hours that it was working.
Right now she is only being fed fresh greens from wild and garden and scrambled eggs.
Greens include: comfrey, common nettle, lots of broadleaf plantain, lots of dandelion, clover, purselane, coltsfoot, pumpkin leaves, oregano, thyme, rosemary
I’ve been giving her 3 scrambled eggs a day but she’s obviously ravenous and wants more.
She also gets 3mls of rooster booster daily and papaya enzym pill morning and evening
Today I did give her some mashed sweet potatoe as she’s got diarrhea and trying to help her tummy.
She is gaining about 2-3 ounces in weight a day now. Hoping that’s good/ok
I can’t let her out of cage because she literally tries to eat EVERYTHING including wood shavings and I don’t want another impaction.
Can I give her more than 3 eggs? Would there be anything else natural anyone could suggest?

Neem oil is toxic when ingested I would stay away from it. Coconut oil is a better alternative. And the feed is not all carbs usually feed is around 16-20% protein. And all veggies are carbs so those equal sugar too? Thats also alot of rooster booster daily

Rooster booster bottle says give 1-3mls daily… I probably give about 2.5 mls or so as I figured she really needs vitamins & minerals not being able to digest/absorb for over a month
I tried coconut oil for over a month-nothing
I tried EVERY herbal remedy I could think of/research
She is still getting 3 times a day a mixture of cayenne, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric and lemon juice.
I know some say that neem is toxic to ingest but others do injest it and swear by it.
She was falling over dying and down to 2.2 pounds when she should be 5 pounds. She is literally a skeleton. I probably should have just asked for friend to come cull her but I just couldn’t 💔
She is gaining now and full of energy so the neem did not hurt her. It literally saved her life.
I do appreciate your concern tho❤️ trust me.. it was my last resort as I was scared to hurt her

Re the pellets… I don’t know.. I just know every time I fed her her organic pellets she blew right up with gas and was spitting/choking on puke/spit up.
I stopped feeding it and gave the neem and within a day her crop emptied and started working better.
I tried 2 days later to reintroduce the pellets being as it’s complete nutrition but she blew right up again and was choking on fluid so I pulled her off again.

Had to look the veg carb info up…
She gets leafy greens not veggies
This is info I found:
Yes, leafy greens are considered carbohydrates. However, they are a type of carbohydrate that is generally low in digestible sugars and high in fiber, making them a healthy choice for most diets, including low-carb diets

So maybe that’s why it’s working?

Has she had the same brand of pellets between your friend and you? What are the pellets? (Brand, etc)
Previous owner fed Sharpes layer pellets. NOT organic
I feed only organic
I normally feed Sharpe’s organic layer but they were out so I have a bag of Miller’s Stone organic layer pellets.
I also tried her on my organic Farmstead grower mash
Same reaction
She came impacted- she had eaten a tonne of long grass that had been put in her travel box with her unfortunately.
Her sister and 2 other younger chicks I got from the same lady are perfectly fine…
