I have an almost 3 yr old hen who has suffered with reproductive issues in the past, she developed an impacted crop which I have been working on for a week now.
I have done massage with 2 tsp coconut oil, tried olive oil as well. The crop is squishier now but still not emptying. No foul breath beside a mulch smell every so often when she burps ( didn't know they could) Vet prescribed a med that is supposed to "flush the tract" and hoping it helps her to empty but she went from 6 lbs to 3lbs so he didn't feel good about crop surgery.
I read about papaya enzyme and Metamucil? but can't find anymore info on it. She won't eat crumble but needs some kind of food after this much time. I got her to eat some egg yolk but had to put her back with her flock so she would see them eat it and finally went for it. (nervous about that) but glad she got something liquid. She has had some poultry cell as well and hitting her again with 2 ml this afternoon, Droppings are bright green assuming because she is not eating that much but also wondering if an infection may have come back and worked its way up the tract? any info would be appreciated!
