The Society of Truth, an RP

She looked kind of disappointed, she had hoped for a bit more enthusiasm. “Oh okay. I will um catch you later” she tripped back into the room she was staying in, she quickly put her hair brush away and pulled out her journal.
Today I met a man named Calder, he truly had a sad story but I get the feeling he didn’t really like me that much... he really didn’t seem enthusiastic when I offered to be friends. The programmer is getting closer by the day and I feel if we don’t pull together we will never get anywhere. Alina was kind enough to offer me a spare room, a bed and some food! Something I haven’t had in weeks, she didn’t tell me until later that the room I’m staying in was her older sisters room who was engaged to Calder (she died not long ago. I’m not sure why but eventually I’m sure I will find out.) her name was Michaela.
She set her pen down and left it open, she probably should have shut it considering if Calder by any chance went in he could read it and that may make things worse.
She sat on the bed and stared at the ceiling, she couldn’t help but wonder what this room used to look like when it was Michaela’s.
der watched her turn into Michaela's room and suddenly felt a bit guilty for not having been more sensitive to her feelings. She, after all, had been sensitive to his. He poked his head through the doorway and said, "I'm sorry. I wasn't very nice just now."

She jumped not expecting him “it’s fine” she said giving him a smile, her smile was warm and friendly “you’ve been through a lot I’m sure I can forgive you”

"That's just it," Calder pointed out, "So have you. So has Alina. So has Dad- uh, Chris. I haven't taken this very well."

Then, before he had a chance to stop himself, he asked, "How do you do it?"

Calder never asked for help.

“Me?” She looked a little surprised “I um I didn’t have time to grieve, it happened so fast. Within three days of the funeral my sister auctioned off the house and split the money with me. I was still in shock when she handed me the check and told me I would have to sort out my own accommodation, that was the first week, at the funeral I lost it. I am still dealing with it now because I lost everything, everything except this duffel bag and my childhood teddy bear which I kept for sentimental reasons, I have three sets of clothes and that’s about it.” She sighed “it is hard to talk about and it still is but I guess I haven’t had time to think about it, from joining the society and thinking about not freezing at night my grief has been pushed to the bottom of my list”

Calder was looking at Tara like he'd never seen her before. "And twenty minutes ago I would happily have turned you out of the house because you were coming in this room," he said, "That's pretty low,"

She smiled “it’s fine. I don’t care, you can still turn me out and I can sleep on a lounge” she said giving him a warm smile “so how about you? Have you felt with your grief?”

He slid through the doorway and sat cross legged on the floor. It had been almost a month since he'd last done it, and the memories were flooding back.
"I-" he began, then stopped to clear his thoughts, "Yeah. I guess. I haven't dealt with it very healthily," he revealed, "I've avoided this place and Alina. She tried to help - even though she has had a really really hard time of it - and she's helping Dad - Chris - whatever. I ought to be less selfish,"

She stared at him her eyes sympathetic “don’t put yourself down. Everyone deals with grief differently, for me I still haven’t, I cry but nothing like I should. I’m waiting for the day I explode and just like cry until I have filled a room. But your not selfish Calder, your easily one of the most unselfish people I have met.”

"Unselfish?" Calder almost laughed at the idea, "In comparison to Chris and Alina - and Michaela, I don't even come close. Why do you think I'm unselfish?"

“Because your in pain” she replied almost instantly “people in pain do some stupid things! I mean look at me, I used to pickpocket people for money and sometimes I’d get a lot” she went pink, she hadn’t meant to tell anyone about her past where she pickpocketed. She had only done that when she had needed money for food or water.
