Alina jumped up, as if she'd suddenly remembered something. "I have to go - count me out, for now," she said, hurrying out of the living room into her dad's study.
She poked her head in and nodded when she saw him still working, before running up the stairs into her room. She closed the door behind her with a soft click.
Calder, meanwhile, was waiting for Mark's dare.
