I have a auto sexing project going . These will be more of a crele color . I have a red EE hen that I could use for a Rhodebar look . I also have a trio of crested cream Legbar that I could use in the project.

Sounds good, and I love your rooster:)

I too have a red EE.

Wow I'm glad I found this thread. I'm actually planning on doing a similar project,. I was going to focus on breeding some other breeds but i rectly lost my only roo and caused me a major set back so i'll be hatching EEs this spring instead. I'm focusing on a big body type, large blue eggs and big beards.

I really like the colors on those crele EEs Jerry. Do you think maybe I can buy some eggs from them this spring? are the eggs blue?

Yes I can sell some . Not real sure if the rooster is single or double barred . First hatch should tell .

Any updates to these breeding plans? Jerry, those EEs look great. I've got a few creme legbars I'm using as part of an EE breeding scheme. It's fun being able to mix things together to one's own liking without a breed standard hanging overhead. My goal, which has been ongoing for a while, is to breed larger-bodied birds laying green or blue eggs so that I get a better table yield on the cull cockerels. I introduced some blue-laced red Wyandotte blood in hopes of getting colorful plumage and better carcass size and wider bodies in general. I'll need some of that to counteract the narrowness from the legbars.

Ok well yes and update, I am still doing this but I have a different standard.
Variety of plummage color
Slate legs
Non feathered feet
Beards
Green or blue eggs
Not sure about size yet.

Also I might add crest to some (like swedish flower hens.)

I am also going to add frizzling.

I used a cream Legbar on my hens for a early hatch . Wanting early cockerels that would be double barred . The 2 pictured are about ready to use . Good thing as the single barred rooster in the previous post is missing . Free ranging a little . So I quit free ranging . The 2 cockerels were already in this pen . Slowly increasing my pullet numbers . Goals are changing but auto sexing is still top of the list . I think crests will be on my list now . Thinking about cushion combs for frost protection and no comb problem from the crest . Legbar have trouble getting straight single combs due to the crest

Hey, Jerry! I was looking at your pictures and thinking the birds look a lot like my Euskal Oiloas. They lay a light brown egg, though, and their bodies look heavier. Any chance you would want some EO cockerels? I hatched 7 eggs and 6 were males!

They will be going to freezer camp soon if I can't find a new home for them which is kind of a shame because they are really pretty boys. In the EO breed, all the cockerels are barred (or at least most- I hatched one that was a white mille fleur pattern) and all the females are buff columbian, so you can tell males from females in just a couple days. If only they laid a blue or green egg, life would be good... They are massive birds. They are bigger than the Australorp cockerel I hatched the same time as them, and they are at least half again as big as my Icelandic chicks that are the same age. The barred males look a lot like your cockerels to me. Very pretty!
