That's a nice start to your new coop. Your going to like them 2' overhangs. I might suggest doing that 2' on the opposite (Gable) sides also. Will keep the rain/snow out of your triangle ventilation.

That makes sense and appreciate the info! I'm going stick with my plan for a 13.5 inch overhang on each side and see how that works out. If it's a problem.. I'll figure something else out. Thanks again!

Understood... You could always use your triangle cutouts, put hinges on the top of them. Basically a shutter you can raise and lower depending on weather.
Just a future thought....

Here's a picture of one end of my coop with some polyester air filter material stapled over the openings. It's one type of furnace filter; another kind is more like a batting and about 1/2" thick.

Since it's an air filter material, air goes through it. I have it there to keep the wind/breezes down.

I will be lowering the roost a few inches next week.

Here's an update on the build. I read somewhere.. maybe here.. to plan on it taking twice as long as you think it will to build.. lol. Along with costing more than you calculated!

I have a question.. there is 9.5 inches of height for entry into the nesting box. Is that enough headroom from them to get in there.. or should I remove the 2x4 that goes across the bottom? Thanks!
