I am completely new to owning rabbits. Can a buck and two does live in the same enclosure and get along? what are their staple feed diets? Can they free range like chickens or do they tend to they run away and never return like quail?

Also, how cold-hardy are they? I live in northern Virginia and it does tend to get a little cold in the winters.

Do not keep male's and females together. That is a recipe for disaster, whether from constantly pregnant does and death of kits or from the buck being castrated by a mad doe when trying to breed.

Give them rabbit pellets and Timothy hay.

Do not let them loose. Everything likes rabbit, and they will be far more likely to become sick if they don't end up eaten

Don't keep two rabbits together. They may get along just fine until the day they don't. Then, as Bunnylady says, it can get pretty bloody. To breed a doe, take her to the buck's cage. As soon as he does his thing return her to her own quarters. I suggest you get the book Storey's Guide to Raising Rabbits by Bob Bennett. It will answer all your questions. It is not expensive, and I got my copy on Amazon.
