The "Stereotypical" Chicken Breed?

Hey everyone,

Okay, so this is a bit of a weird question, but does anyone know what the most "stereotypical" chicken breed is? You know, the classic one with the brown body and iridescent green tail? I'm embroidering a set of tea towels, and though the directions include the colors to be used, they do not contain a reference pic (which my highly visual mind needs). I know I've seen these types of chickens before, but now that I look for it I cannot seem to find it.

Any suggestions? Also if you have a pic it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read this.

The most "stereotypical" chicken is probably the Welsummer rooster, since it is the one pictured on the Kellogg Cornflakes box. Here is a pic of one.

I should rephrase that. It used to be pictured on the Kellog's Cornflakes box. Now they have some cartoonish looking drawing on the box. Guess I'm showing my age here.)

Thank you so much! Both those photos are lovely, and now I know what colors to use for the body. So Kellog's is responsible for me having to do this kind of rooster, eh? Leave it to a cereal company to popularize something that way.

Okay, so based on your photos, here is what I've come up with for the embroidery:

What do you think? I may well modify the hen, which I'm not sure about.

Edited to Add: When I say "modify" I mean only the colors. The shape is definite -- it's from an iron-on transfer! -- and I really like it.

Thank you! Yes I love them too, it came in a set of patterns for "day-of-the-week" tea towels, and this design was my favorite because of the chicks.
