The other day I was petting my chickens when I saw one of them had a chip on her beak. I haven't noticed this before, so I'm not sure how long its been there. It's located on her top beak, at the tip. It looks as if a bit has come off. I don't think she's in pain because she's been eating and drinking like normal, although she has stared running away from me when I try to pick her up, when before she'd let me. I'm not sure if I should try to fix it or wait for it to heal. What do you think?

Since it’s only the tip of the beak, she will be fine. She’s eating and drinking normally, so it isn’t bothering her. She likely chipped it off while pecking something hard, like a rock, etc. There’s not really anything you can do to fix it. If the tip is raggedy, you may want to gently file off any sharp edge. Other than that, it’ll be fine.
