The Sullivan Six

Well, I thought Lady Amalthea was just kidding about the whole broody thing, but then she changed her mind. I thought she was gonna eat my fingers when I got her off the nest to put her in the broody buster! On the bright side, having the top hen in broody jail seems to have made integration easier for Apollo.

All that rage-y fluff! 😍

Lady Amalthea is officially no longer broody!

Poor Marcille is molting hard right now. Paprika is also molting, but I only know because I haven't seen any brown eggs this week. If you look closely she's missing a few saddle feathers and a couple of tail feathers.

Limu.

Broodiest chicken I've ever had! She's going on three days now and as soon as I let her out of broody jail she's right back on the nest :barnie

Also, it's so 🔥hot🔥 here. I went to put the chickens to bed tonight and I could  hear Apollo panting from the garage door! She sounded a little wet, so I'm worried about her. I did turn the fan on and hung a wet washcloth in front of it hoping for an impromptu swamp cooler.

Loving the motion effect in this picture of Limu

Amalthea is still my star layer. Being both the best layer and head hen keeps her busy busy busy.

Paprika is having some loose stools. But other than that, and a ratty tail from molting, she's doing pretty good.

Artemis is photogenic as ever! We're switching the girls to a nipple waterer this fall, so hopefully her beard and crest can stay dry and clean this winter.

I think Marcille is about done with her molt. She's still not laying yet though.

Apollo is finally getting along with everyone. We'll, as far as I can tell. She is bald over her back right in front of her tail though. So maybe someone still has beef with her?
