The Sullivan Six

Pics
Told my husband that tonight we need to wait until after the door is closed to turn off the light in the coop. I think that was part of the problem, we have a streetlight out front so with the coop lights off it was darker inside than outside. I think (hope) that's why she was sitting in the doorway.

Leaving the garage lights on until the door closed seems to have done the trick. Someone (Bibu or Limu I think) kept sticking her head out the doorway, but no one got caught in the door!

Been a while since I posted any pictures of my ladies! No more accidents with the automatic door. Although, Artemis is fond of sleeping on the ramp right up against the door. This has led to more than one "oh no, is she stuck in the door?!" moment for both me and my husband. Today the garage lights didn't get turned on. So Artemis was sitting in the door as the girls were going in the coop.

Paprika was being kinda bitey with me this evening (in her defense I have painted nails so she was probably just trying to figure those out) so I scooped her up and she decided to roost on my arm.

Painted nails are a chicken attractant! I have a friend who wears sandals and bright nail polish on her toenails. On her walk through my yard, she is ALWAYS accompanied by curious, pecking hens.

Your girls continue to be charmers, and it sounds as if Artemis is making at least some progress with the door.

Artemis has a single white feather coming in among the black on top of her head! And her black feathers are starting to get that lovely purple-green sheen to them.

Oh gosh, it's been a while since our last update! My girls are looking so grown up at 17, almost 18 weeks.

Paprika is really reddening up. I'm betting she'll be the first to lay.

Artemis's ever changing mottling is coming along nicely. She's always the first one to come say hi!

Limu's hackles are so pretty! And the barring in her crest is starting to be more noticeable.

And this is my new favorite picture of Bibu!
