I'm sorry Siz... wish you'd had better luck. That is from two different batches right ? How are your bator temps ?? Humidity ?? I know if the temps run too high I will have chicks hatch early and with a yolk sac hanging out. Are you using two thermometers ??

my swap eggs haven't started yet but since last night i have 3 tiny seramas so far, yeah!!! my gosh they r the size of a button quail, rotfl. these r the smallest chicks i have ever hatched.

swap eggs should start hatching tomarrow.

oh silkie, I am so excited. Can you tell me why people hatch saramas and button quail. Is it for the eggs? The meat or show or what. Not really that familiar with them. Pictures please.

in this picture is a std chick and with it is serama chicks in the background,,,to show the differnce,,,
for me personally,,,we hatch seramas because i like the size,,the personality,and the colors,,,you can have 5 hatch and get all different colors,,,very cool,

But haven't I read that the seramas are hard to hatch? Have you found that to be true? I might have to try some of those, they are too cute. And button quail are so tiny from what I just read about them. Man. I have to have some of those too.

they can be,, and the chicks can be so small that you lose alot, i started to use the same feed people use for hand fed birds,,,it is a mix with water,,cant think of the name,,,off the top of my head,,but anyway it gives them a good start,,
and pasty butts,,,add that to the list of trouble,,,atleast in incubator hatched,,,the moms are great, and love to go broody..,that is what i have found with mine anyways..

the smallest eggs,,,the size of the egg,,,is what is the trouble,,i should say,,,the smallest of eggs are hard to hatch and hard to keep alive,,,the thing with serama is you want the smallest of the small,,,,

so it would probably be better to get chicks or older birds first and then let them hatch their own than trying to hatch shipped eggs, right? Who do you get your saramas and quail eggs from Silkie, or anyone else?

I think alot of folks figured out who's eggs they had in the last swap. Not much of a "secret", but looks like the March one is going to stay secret?

I had them in with eggs i got from Margmet got a 50% hatch on them so I have no Idea why But it is a bummer I think I need a fan!!!
