Hello All!:)

Last year I had TWO hens brooding in the same nest, and they would NOT leave! And they always did it Together,no matter how I divided them, now I have limited space in my coop, which means my broodies were hogging my few nests keeping the rest of my layers away!i don't want that to happen again this year, cause I need my layers to lay in their nests! So my question is has anyone had this same problem and what you did about it?

Its hard to move a broody they normally don't fare well... Maybe you can try to encourage them to sit else where

Move them at night to another box or dog crate. Keep them in the dark a day or so until they calm down and accept the new nest. I always have a couple broody girls going, year round, and have only had issues moving once or twice. Darkness is key. :) If you don't want them sitting you can also break them. Crate or cage with no bedding and good airflow under them, and a couple cool baths.

Thank you for the reply's,I have tried all of your suggestions to no avail...I tried keeping them out of their cage till night so they couldn't get in but that only made it worse!;)
