Thank you all for the support! This is WAY more fun than facebook, and more educational too! Here is a pic of "Kickstand", the handicapped duckling, who indeed was being picked on while I wasn't around to scold the others (I had my roommate spy) and simply afraid of its hatchmates. Given that I am now positive the lil' one is not in pain, I can go ahead and bring it up and hopefully find some way to fix that leg without surgical intervention. Unfortunately the picture is too big to upload, but its left hind leg is permanently cramped in a bent position with its foot folded closed, and both lower leg and foot are turned inward toward the bottom of his belly. I have been swimming him a LOT and gently placing the bottom of his foot over my finger to try and open it up, or at least give it a little stretch. I stop if he cries out but I think he is generally a pretty good sport about everything. Courageous little duck! I have a business to run so I am trying to find a family for him and his favorite cuddle buddy but if I can't and I find that he is unsafe in the flock, my roommate has agreed to share custody and take him to work during the day. I seriously lucked out there! Thank God for the compassion of others, right?

Thank you! He seems to be doing much better with less aggressive duklings in a different brooder, so keep 'em crossed! Here we go... He is full of personality, which is becoming more apparent as he grows so I am hopeful that he will be a nice, albeit unusual pet.
