Linnet paced her room. She hoped with all her heart the king would give his consent

The messenger bearing her letter knocked on King Audric's door. Mariah had him come in. "I shall see to that," she told him. The messenger nodded and went to the fire to warm his hands
 
Gwen nodded. "Yes, but what now. She cannot come along with us, and going back will put us days out."

Fent glared at her. "That is none of your concern."
 
"Well that gives us one thing to not worry about." Gwen gave him a tired smile. "We should go soon."

Fent sighed. "But that would help you turn me in for kidnapping the princess of Alnwick."

Emilee smiled sweetly. "Who said I intended to turn you in?"

Edmund nodded. Taking Gwen's hand, he led her to the table where Emilee and Fent sat.
 
Fent rolled his eyes. "Yes because people normally turn down a large Amount of money for the return of A PRINCESS!!!!"

Gwen looked around nervously. "P-princess? What do you mean?"
 
Gwen began to panic. "NO!!! Who said I was the princess? Nobody said that! Why would you think that?"

Fent shifted uncomfortably I'm his chair.
 
Edmund grabbed Gwen's wrist. "Calm down, sister." He looked at Fetn and Emilee. "Certain things get her really worked up," he apologized.

Emilee nodded uncertainly. "Uh, tea?" She asked Fent
 
Gwen nodded. She really just wanted to curl up and sleep.

Fent snapped out of his daze. "Tea? Oh. Uh...right. Tea"
He pulled the kettle off the stand, and w 4 steaming mugs. "I do hope you enjoy it. There is sugar on the counter if it is too bitter."

"Can you walk?" Redd repeated slowly.
