*The Verge of War* A Medieval Rp

Katrina laughed to herself. She hurried back to Gavin and the stubborn horse. "Hey, shh, it's okay buddy," she said softly, rubbing the horse's forehead.
---
"Onward," Edmund replied bluntly. He didn't wait on Gwen but sped down the hill further.

Emilee let go of the curtain. "If ye can stay a little longer, I'll cook ye a meal," she offered. "It's the least I can do for ye."
--
Linnet, breathless, dismounted quickly. Se smiled and nodded at Richard, who had stopped his horse by the exit. "Your ladyship," Richard nodded his head.

Gwen shrugged. He wasn't the one she was here for anyway.

Fent nodded. "Alright. If you insist." He smiled. "I haven't had somebody make me a meal in a while."

Edmund finally slowed down.

Emilee smiled. "An I haven't made a meal for someone who appreciated it in a while.'
----
"Any news on the princess?" Linnet asked the knight.
"No, my lady," Richard said sadly. " Soldiers and riders are still searching."
Linnet handed her horse to a stable boy. "Very well then." She silently left the courtyard and went to her room

Gwen slowed and let her horse fall in step with Edmunds. "Are you alright?"

Fent's smile faded. He sat there silently staring out the window.

edmund stopped his horse. "Yes, yes I'm fine," he said. He ran his fingers through his brown hair leaving a haphazard appearance. "Sorry if I seem distant, I'm tired, that's all."

Emilee, pleased with the small fire, hung a heavy cast iron pot on a hook over the fire. "So do ye have any close relations at the castle?" She asked

Gwen sighed. "You wish to return home?"

Fent shook his head. "I dont have close relations anywhere."

Edmund stared at Gwen. "We have been over this already," he replied hastily.

Emilee dusted her hands off. "Tis rather sad. None at all. But I 'spose it's better than one angry one," she chuckled.
---
Linnet changed into a fresh gown. It was light blue and had long tiered sleeves. Leaving her hair down around her shoulders, she stuck a flower in it.

Richard cantered his horse out of the courtyard

Gwen sat quietly, waiting for him to go on.

Fent nodded solemnly. "I suppose. But it isn't the kind of thing you want for a young boy."

Edmund continued riding, eventually his speed leaving Gwen behind.

Emilee went to the cellar to fetch a chunk of meat which she put in the pot. "So you were an only child?" She knew they had been over this before, but she needed to keep the conversation going

Gwen sighed and continued riding. What was wrong with him?

Fent nodded. "I had a sister but she..." He trailed off. She didn't want to hear about his sister. And frankly, he wasn't up to talk about it.
