*The Verge of War* A Medieval Rp

"Well hello, what have we here?" Edmund chuckled. "Seems James' key didn't do much good," he said to Will who was just staring with his mouth wide open.

"James? Yes, that's me." Alfric said quickly, attempting to recover his composure. He blinked a few times and looked at Edmund. He was sure he recognised him, but from where he did not know. Must be a waiter or some such, he thought.

"Oh, you're a James as well?" Edmund was amused with the situation, and his unmasked face clearly showed it. "Would you like to come out and explain yourself?" He offered politely, stepping back from the doorway.

(Oops, forgot they were masked. Thanks for saving me Silks :))

Alfric stepped wearily out of the cellar. "I went in to get something and the door must've closed behind me." He said slowly, searching for the right words. "I heard a girl." He added, remembering Fawn.

(Kitchen boy Will isn't, and Edmund took his off sometime ago when he was greeting people. Didn't Alfric shed his earlier as well?)

Edmund raised a questioning eyebrow. "Will, are you sure you cleaned this room thoroughly yesterday?" He turned to the young boy.
Will jerked his head up to look at his master. "I cleaned it, I promise I did!" He quickly said.
"Who are you, James? Your face isn't familiar to me," Edmund said.

(Ohh okay. Yup, Al did.)
"Excuse me Sir, I was to guard Fawn. She got lost and I thought I heard her in there." He replied, rubbing his bruised shoulder.

"Fawn?" Edmund's composure changed at the mention. He glanced around the room to make sure everyone was minding their own business, then returned his attention to Alfric. "Who are you?" He asked.
-----
Fawn, meanwhile, had tired from pacing the section of tunnel near the door and she feared if she went too far than she may miss Alfric's return. She spent some time trying to pry the door open further, but it bluntly refused so she sat down, as there was nothing else to do in her confinement.

Alfrics heart gave a sudden jump as he saw the change in Edmunds face. "I told you." He said in a hushed voice. "I...I'm James. Cormack."

"And you're a guard?" Edmund asked. So far this cob webbed-covered kid's story wasn't entirely convincing. Will looked from one to the other, unsure if he should go. He took a step back as if to leave but Edmund quickly placed his hand on his shoulder to stop him.
