*The Verge of War* A Medieval Rp

Gwen smirked. "That doesn't seem much of a challenge for you. I ,however, am going to have a bit more of a struggle identifying you."

A long silenced stretched between them. "So hows the...er...baby?" Peter asked awkwardly.

Kat dangled her feet over the tall stone wall. A couple talked quietly in the nearby shadow. The man seemed slightly nervous. What was he hiding?

William simply nodded. Her turned his attention now to Edmund, who waited patiently. "I suppose you would like to ask this lovely lady to oblige you for a dance?" William asked. Edmund grinned sheepishly. "If she would do me the honor, and I think she would," he replied. "Will you?" He asked Gwen.

Linnet, her hand still entangled with Peter's, looked up at him. "I think it's quite fine," she chuckled. "Though, I think we'd both be better if we were able to be with you more often," she smiled sadly

Fawn refused a young man with the honest excuse of being exhausted from dancing. She retired to a quieter area of the room, out of the way of the dancing couples. The ball would probably go on all night, she figured.

Katrina beamed, happy to have someone so pleased with a simple basket of food. "Tis a pleasure to serve any weary traveler," she said. Any fear of the stranger that she had had was gone now. This woman was simply hungry and tired, needing food and a place for the night. "If ye want to bed down in that stall, I don't think you'll be disturbed. I doubt the family will be back before dawn."

Herja didn't need to be told twice. She fluffed up the straw on the floor of the stall, trying to get all the pokey pieces laid down, then flopped down and promptly fell asleep.

Katrina crept back inside the castle, making sure to hurry past the laundry. Whenever the head laundress found her later, she would simply say her help had been required elsewhere and run off before miss laundress could object. But right now she didn't want to have to say that, so avoiding the laundry as long as possible seemed best. Katrina realized she handy checked in on Gavin in a while, so perhaps now was a good time.

Gwen was disappointed to be taken away from this young gentleman, but smiled politely and accepted. "How are you Edmun?"

Peter frowned. "I know Linnet. I wish there was something I could do."

Edmund led Gwen away, leaving William alone. "Quite well. And you, your highness?" He asked.

William decided to get a breath of fresh air. He slipped away from the crowd and exited through the back door onto the dimly lit porch. Surprisingly, he was, for the most part, the only one out here. There were one or two couples who must of shared the idea that inside was stuffy.

Sighing, Linnet looked away. "How are you and the family doing?" She asked quietly.

"A bit crazy, I must admit. But I suppose there is some insanity along with living in a castle." Gwen replied with a shrug. "It looks lovely."

Peter frowned. "I haven't seen my family in years." He reminded her gently. "You are my family."

"Indeed, craziness comes with the job," Edmund chuckled. "This room? Why thank you. Sadly, I can't take complete credit for the decor." He spun her around then bowed low.

"I was referring to the royal family," Linnet corrected him, smiling softly. She was thankful that the porch was so dim, otherwise he would of seen how red she was.

Mariah marched off to the other end of the room with the intent of getting a drink, but her walk was interrupted by a darkly dressed man. She stopped in her track and looked him over. Something seemed slightly familiar about him, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
"May I have the honor of this dance, your highness?" Redd asked. He knew who she was, her royal garb giving her obviously away.
Mariah looked disdainfully at him but accepted.

"Can't you?" Gwen asked. Edmund wasn't married, that meant he was the sole planner.

"Fine as far as I am aware." Peter said with a quizzical look. "Though I haven't seen them much recently. I haven't even seen Edwin here so far."

(Where's Edwin and Alena go,?)

"Well then I'd be lying," Edmund laughed. "I had some guests arrive early to help with finishing touches."

"And how have you managed to avoid their all-seeing eyes?" Linnet asked with humor.

William, who stood quietly at the opposite end of the stone porch, tried hard to think of who the pretty red head he had danced with was. Her speech suggested a sophisticated well learned woman and she had said she lived in a castle of Alnwick, of which there were several. But she could merely be a servant who lived in a castle. But surely not. Her gown was way too fine for a lowly maiden. Why do I even care? he thought. He glanced around the porch and tried to discern who else was out there in an attempt to get his mind off the subject.

(Ummm haha don't know. Let's pick them up again)

Redd lead the queen to the edge of the dancing, an act that didn't much please her but one she could do nothing about. The music was a lively waltz this time and hardly any conversations could be heard over it.
