Which house color do you like best? Just cast your letter vote......

Details: Our historic home we're restoring is ready to be painted (before we finish some porches/balcony parts). Its 150 from the road. It looks a lot like this house, except it also has a wing on the left side. Perfect mirror image. It was built in 1876 on the Kansas Frontier. The barn that was built at the same time (and our garage) will be old barn red.

Happy voting!!!! We are counting votes from my 3 fav. threads, plus whoever on BYC decides to vote too...... The winner really will be the house color.

Vote ends Tomarrow night at my bedtime. Winner announced here on Friday morning, and paint will be purchased Friday also! Pics will be posted.....

Oh, thanks so much! I feel very lucky to have those trees. We don't have a/c, but we can keep our interior 20* cooler than outside by using the old fashioined methods of open windows evenings and nights, and closed draped windows during daylight. We also put fans in the windows to cool overnight, but its those trees that make it very very nice there. (Uh, winters cool too....win some lose some)

I grew up in an old California farmhouse built around 1912. (Sister still lives there.) The walls are lath and plaster construction, at least 9" thick, which insulate very well, but also seem to hold on to the cold when you try to warm it up and vice versa. The windows are definitely the weak point. Old original glass is very thin and wavy, and seems that the wind can blow right through!
