When I bought my chicks I knew it would be awhile for eggs. We purchased 6 large whites, 10 RIR, and supposedly 10 EE. Well one of my EEs turned out to be a Barred Rock (Karen). Well, Karen has grown bigger than the white girls that are at least 2 weeks older than her and her comb is turning a pretty red. That should mean she is close to egg laying right? Wrong. She is more worried about being queen bee than laying an egg. My RIR are starting to show signs though I know they are still a few weeks off. I have started a mantra for them to "just pop it out" when I catch them squatting or getting in the nests. Being a chicken mom is frustrating. Lol.
