With encouragement from its sibling, chick #2 is out.

I made a judgement call and quickly reached in and sat the egg pipped at the wrong end on the floor of the bator. It began rocking, so was still alive at that point.

You can see the pip towards the back of the pointy end of the egg. I've never had one pip at the wrong end; but I don't think it could have hatched upside down in the carton. It's still moving around.

Congrats on your second baby!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for that 3rd one.

Thank you. The last chick keeps sticking its beak through the pip; I'm not counting three quite yet, but it's looking good so far. I'm a little surprized to see what looks to be black down through the pip, I've got to look at the possible combinations again and see if I can figure out why that might be.

Here's my baby... it didn't dry correctly:

And here is a picture of the friends. I'm pretty sure one of them is NOT a leghorn as it has black spots and feathered legs, LOL. The lady said it "might" be crossed with a silkie. Ooh I don't like silkies presciousss

i'll try and get pictures of my spot later, but I hafta go to the dump right now.

Too cute! If the others only have 4 toes and are clean legged, the Silkie probably isn't the daddy [or mommy either]. ETA: Now I see the "and feathered legs" , sorry. But at least it won't be a silkie
