SCG: Interesting mystery you have there with little miss hairy legs.....Maybe your Brahma snuck an egg out????

Steve: Glad you helped out chick #3, They say not to help and let nature take it's course, well in reality, taking eggs from a hen stuffing them in bubble wrap, tossing them in a box and shipping them and tossing them around, smashing them and then sticking them in a heated styrofoam box to grow, really isn't a "Nature" like environment. So things happen where we need to help them. I hope Hanibal learned it's lesson.

I've got a bit of a mystery here too. All of the chicks were supposed to be from white on white, white on black tailed red, or black tailed red on white matings. The chick that pipped uoside down is brown striped, and note the muffs and beard. I believe somebody jumped the fence.

The chick in the crouching, stink eyed pose is Hanabil/Hannabelle

I hadn't noticed that!
I went and checked, he/she is going to have a colored beak. The egg looked like it came from one of the breeder's Black Copper Marans/CX pullets and it's probably sired by this Freedom Ranger type roo[with dubbed comb]. It should grow into a fairly large bird. The other chick is probably the same cross, but there are two other possibilities..................... maybe more since I got an EE somehow

Oh Goodness! Only 13 out of the 100 or so eggs in the bator weren't developed

Guess I'll be giving chicks away by the weekend! I locked em down about 15 minutes ago. I guess one was a double yolker, there were two air cells... was pretty neat to see. It died early on, but still a cool sight, none the less!!!

Anyone need some chicks in a few days? $5/dozen

I joined this thread after I set eggs on Superbowl Sunday out of my fridge after losing all 18 of my hens to something (still haven't caught anything) anyway......one hatched today and three have pipped. If I get even those four (and at least one is a hen) I'll be doing the happy dance

I just wish one of the others would hatch because this little peeper is lonely! She's very vocal!

I couldn't get humidity up, so I used a brownie pan, the long 9x13 ones, and its now holding at 55%
