the Will They Hatch? thread

Thanks Steve.

Just checked on them in time to watch another ginger one hatch!

Checked to see how the other pip was doing and found another 2 have piped since I last looked. Only 3 unpipped so the way things are going I won't get to pull the older chicks out till they are all done lol.

I have noticed this time they are much faster from pip to hatching out than the first lot I hatched. They also had much bigger air cells, the humidity was too high with the first hatch. Wondering if these things could be related now. Off to investigate.

Well it's been eventful here.

I went out the back to finish setting up the brooder and hear a chick screaming!!! Dash in and it looks like a demolition crew has been in the bator. Stuff shoved around everywhere and the thermometer has fallen and trapped a chick upside down.

Needless to say I had to open the 'bator to rescue my little one. I now have 5 in the brooder. Left one drying in the 'bator, and left the little black one with the damaged yolk in there. It's fighting and peeping a lot but can't seem to get on it's feet properly. I think it's better off staying in there where it won't get trampled.

Have a second black one popped it's lid but still sitting in the bottom part of the shell and my pips are advancing. I'll have to keep a close eye on them now I've had to open the 'bator.
Funny now they are fluffed my ginger babies are several different shades. Have soft buff right through to dark chestnut. Utterly adorable little things.

I lost a battle with impulse, and made a bid for 6+ lav Orp eggs tonight before leaving for a few hrs.

Came home to discover mine was the only bid. Not sure if this next group is going in the Will They Hatch group................................ hopefully they will arrive in better condition than the last, and I think my own have a little better fertility this time. I'll probably be playing it close to clear the bator for Mahonri's Easter Hatch, if they even arrive by Sat morning; may have to run them a little warm and speed them a bit.

Ah yes, pics, must take some.

I have one that's down color is fascinating me. Not going to spoil the surprise by telling you why though. You'll have to wait to see it.

My poor little yolker is still with us. Not sure what's up with it, it's legs look fine but it keeps falling over onto it's back and struggles to flip over. I'm hoping it pulls through, seems strong enough but it needs to get up and walking.

Hope all your lav Orps arrive intact and unscrambled.

I have eggs on the way also - and the seller is shipping late. You and I may be setting about the same time.
Lavender orps...mmmm...wowza! Felicidades Steve!

Well after the last hatch took 4 days to complete, I'm leaving eggs in the bator. I really thing my TJ eggs stopped. I see lots of veins in there. Just have to try again with those, but I put 8 more eggs in there for lockdown. I got carried away with eggs lately

So far no Wellies!

I got it to hatch and so happy

1 Barnevelder

2 FBCMs

1 BM This one keept getting stomped on and pinned in a corner. It started dragging a leg, so it's sitting in the bator inside of a coffee cup. Hope it works.

I hope more hatch, but don't have too high of hopes right now. We'll see.
