the witless wonders strike again...won't use the roost

If roosting arrangement in front porch to persit, then consider providing an elevated location about 5+ above ground that includes and wooden dowel as actual perch and and a board below it that can be used to collect feces for transfer to garden.

Wow! Satrgazing Mommy you only have 2 porch decor birds, centrarchid has 17?! I guess because it's not my porch I can find humor in this. I was just thinking, how awesome would it be if they were all there in the daytime?! It would totally make those annoying sales people think twice about knocking on your door or leaving those dang ads on the door knob if they had to go past a bunch of "guard chickens"!

I think I know the problem now. They are a merry band of roving pirate chickens. They set roost on the high porch and sail in their dreams until dawn. The food bowl? That's a fine chest of pirate chicken booty to be saved for scratch burying later.

I actually think little Squiddly Pegleg was a pretty cute chick. She looked like she was getting ready to fly all the time. I suppose not knowing she had a frizzle gene in her though, it would be rather shocking to watch her feather in. She doesn't look as frizzled in the porch roosting pic. Just sorta like she has a wild cowlick or two. I would love to see a new picture of her and how she finally finished feathering out.

I"ll try to get one later, she actually looks pretty "normal" She still doesn't seem quite right when she walks, and more waddles when she walks now. Mostly she runs every where...
and in my defense... I only have *4* chickens lol

No defense needed ya'll.

I'm just wishing now I had porch steps to plant my chickens on when I see those sales people coming! All I have is a flat walkway to my front door.

I think she turned out to be a pretty little girl. Both are fine looking chickens.

So how has locking them up been working?

They still aren't putting themselves to bed, instead they prefer the poop pile under the roost, which happens to be rightht under where Bo sleeps.

Okay, I concur... they are the witless wonders.

Bo isn't running them off the roost or anything is she?

Are they at least eating the food from the feeder in the pen now?
