The Wolfae Works Breed(s) in the making

I can try to get some pics in a few days. Its icy right now out.
Yes these are my first generation for what will be my meat breed. We shall see if the off spring of the cornish and brahma cross throws half decent breast size, if not I will need a better line of cornish than the ones I have. We will harvest both a brahma 16 weeks and a cornish brahma at 16 weeks to compare breast size. Also hoping to see slightly faster growth too. Lol They should start laying any day now. I was a little late on starting them on laying pellets but should be soon. They are 6 months but it is winter too.

Thanks! It is a good experiment. I plan to keep the best looking Cornish Brahma rooster and then mix it back with Brahma white rock, Brahma Delaware and Brahma Cornish hens, whichever look the best for what I'm aiming at. I'm hoping at least a little of the lacing passes on because that's pretty but want mostly white and keep the fluffy feet if possible, but looking for meat most of all.

Late bloomers but I finally got my first egg today. Darker than I expected so I'm assuming it's from the white rock, - I remember barred rocks we had when I was a teen had eggs about this color. Brahmas, Cornish, Delaware are all supposed to be light.

Got another single egg today, slightly lighter than yesterday, borderline for brahma size and shade. I think it will be easier to tell once I have more... I used the two this morn, looked fertile to me so the big brahma looks to be doing his job. That means I should be able to incubate soon hopefully.

More terrible and cropped pics to not show the mess the dogs made on the other side of the fence and show specific chickens or groupings. Like comparing the size of the Cornish and the Brahma rooster. You can see most of the hens have nice red comb and wattles, the only one I noticed that wasn't the nice healthy red was one Cornish-the smaller one.I will try and take better pics soon- I just never think about it.

Well, Everyone has been laying, so checked and the couple I checked were fertile. I've been collecting the past 4 or 5 days and am warming the incubator to start them tomorrow. Also have most of my shipped eggs in yesterday so they need to be started tomorrow.
