Hubby is getting to coop done! All of the major building is done, just need to finish the details. The gap at the top for ventilation will be covered with chicken wire. I think we will also add 2" holes along the sides as well. Need to add nesting boxes and roosts, finish the fence, add a door to the run, and block off the gap at the bottom of the wall. Slowly but surely...😊

Use hardware cloth instead of chicken wire. Raccoons and other predators can rip right through chicken wire. :)
We've been debating (arguing? In a most loving way, of course!) the level of security needed against predators. This coop is inside of a barn, which helps keep most of the larger animals at bay. And hardware cloth is still an option on the table. :) Between me worrying about predators and hubby stressing over structural integrity, this will surely be the Fort Knox of chicken coops.

I'm more concerned about our 15' x 25' run. It is 2 x 4 welded wire, six foot high. We have some bird netting type stuff for the top, made of braided nylon, which will deter a hawk or owl but that won't even slow down a coon! We are thinking of a couple strands of electric fence above the fence. Do you think that would work?
