Thanks. I wasn't so sure, but one of my silkies has now become depressed and inert and seems to have a distended crop so I'm suspecting it may be Marek''s and I may need to cull them both.

Just wanted to post some pics of the SLW chicks I've hatched from my Foley pair I got a short while ago.

How many chicks did you get with straight combs? I don't think I have ever hatched a straight comb SLW. Maybe you will have better fertility with yours than I do.

Well I put 4 SLW pullets and 1 Black/SLW pullet in with their new SLW roo. They JUST started laying so I can start hatching in a couple of weeks.

ALSO My SPLASH BLRW girls are starting to lay again and they are covered by another SLW roo for the Blue Laced Silvers so maybe I can get that going in the fall.

Every time I think I am going to stop hatching something else starts laying.

Interesting. Since these are my first Wyandotte chicks, I didn't even think to look at the type of comb at this age, but it looks like there could be a couple. What do the peacombs look like when they are young chicks? I know the one that is definitely a roo is a peacomb, but what about the pullets?

They are rosecomb not pea comb. The one with the red comb has a rosecomb.

Thanks for the correction. I'll get this Wyandotte thing sooner or later.
The parents are directly from Jerry. I bought an adult hen that was laying already and rooster.

You're welcome!! Wyandottes are very fun. And uou started with great stock.

My parent stock has the rosecombs. My roo is doing his job and I'm getting a good amount of chicks. I can easily sell such beautiful birds to people who don't care about the combs and keep the ones with rosecombs for me, so I don't see it as a problem.
