I bought eggs to hatch that are from Blue Poultry lines and of the 6 that hatched, at 3 weeks it looks like maybe 5 of the 6 are roosters . . . hmmm what's with these lines!?

I Have extra 12 week old pullets from Paul's Poultry lines (3 roos out of 9 chicks) that I hope to pair up with my extra Blue Poultry roosters in hopes of having an easier time finding homes!! Good luck in finding homes for yours

I am happy that the sales person talked me into ordering "pullets" as the other breeds that I ordered "straight run" were very heavy on the male version. Also the six chicks that I picked from a local BYCpeep were 1 hen to 5 roos. I am enjoying watching my Splash chicks grow and change. They are six weeks old now. I vow to never order straight run again.

Unfortunately I found that most of the places that I wanted to order from only offered straight run

Guess that is the "price" of trying to get a good line

Not too worried about getting rid of them, guess they can always go to freezer camp. Seems like such a waste... Really want to find some "growed up" hens though! I bought some Blue Wheaton Ameraucanas at the same time and had better luck with them (somewhat). Two died on the trip and now I have three roos and 5 hens. Some of the hens are still lacking the proper beards so I am kinda hoping they "pop out" real soon.

They are also about 10 weeks old.

I sent more than half of what I ordered to freezer camp. Yes it is a waste on the whole I am satisfied. I did sell four pullets and will be giving four more to my neighbor in exchange for a barter type item. When you think of the number of birds that are culled from a flock of Show Quality and Breeding Quality, well there you are. Anyway I like my Wyandotte Blue Laced Reds. They are pretty girls and I sure hope that some of them want to be broodies.

Maybe that is what they mean by "game"??
