The Wyandotte Thread

Do you notice any difference in his feathering from the pullets that I may not be noticing? Also when should I expect to start hearing the crow lol?

My Wyandottes are 32 weeks old, and two had combs no where near that size until two weeks ago, and two still have barely even pink combs. So, definitely a cockerel

thanks! I was pretty sure my Blue was cockerel, I just hadn't thought to double check until today. I'm excited to see how things work out with him.

I'd like to find some decent blacks as well ... and buffs, and silver-penciled, and partridge ... all varieties that have been in the SoP for over a century but are now about as easy to find as hens' teeth. I was looking at Sandhill's catalog the other week, and they list black, buff, and silver-penciled but no comment on quality.

@dfr1973 and @chrissyr
I did not see any breeders of those breeds in Florida.
If you will both PM me with a email addy and a home state, I will send you breeder contact information from the Wyandotte Breeders of America Directory of Breeders for this year. It just came out.

@blackgum I crossed a White Wyandotte cock purchased from a noted Oklahoma breeder over my Columbian Wyandotte hens to improve combs and size as well as leg color. As a bonus offspring, I got some lovely barred pullets with a great type, lovely yellow legs and great combs.
