The Wyandotte Thread

As people know, Silkies are my focus...

However, my Mam got these two birds a few months back for in her flock and I was wondering if I'm right in guessing there Wyandottes?

Excellent photos! I can never get such good ones! :clap

Yes, they do look like Wyandottes, and beautiful ones at that. The first one... I am not sure what color that is (but then, Wyandottes come in almost every color), so not sure if it is a standard color or not. :idunno She is beautiful. She does also look like she might have a touch of scale lice... might want to check.

Thankyou, glad you like them!

My Mam isn't fussed about the colours, or even what breed they are she just found them pretty and she felt sorry for them because they had scaly leg and were not looking in top shape at first (grubby).

I do most treatments on birds we have and they have been treated for scaly leg and their legs are so much better.

A lot of poultry keepers around us seem to have bad scaly leg in their flocks and it's so easy to treat. At least with us their legs get some relief!

Their legs have improved a lot and we're waiting for their new scales to appear.

That being said, we've also previously got Brahmas who's feet literally looked like giant scabs their feet were that bad when we got them.

My rooster is SLW and I have GLW, gold sexlink and RIR hens that I am incubating eggs for at this time. Do you have any pics of your SLW x RIR hens? I am excited to see the color variations that come of this experiment.

It'll be nice to see your hatched birds to show us what the mixes will look like!
