The Wyandotte Thread

I think the first picture with the two birds and the last one are BLRW. The second and third might be SLW, although that one is darker than I have seen them.
Thanks for the input! The other bird on the roost bar with the two gold ones is the same bird in the second picture. I ordered them through Hoover’s hatchery, so that might be why the colors aren’t good? I ordered 3 silver, 3 gold, and 2 blue/red. So it was obvious who was what once the colors started showing. But then you have the second picture one who just doesn’t seem to fit. Lol

I Also don’t know much about the breed, but is it normal for them to get such a red comb and wattle at 8 weeks or do I possibly have a rooster? That one is getting some cool brow/ red coloring on the tops of the wings.

I think you likely have a rooster. Sorry.

Also, I was looking at the pics and think the two in the first pic may actually be gold laced.

I bought 3 gold laced wyandonettes along with 11 other chicks. One appears more grey-blue than black. She (I think she's a pullet) is plump and fluffy. The other two are slightly darker, slimmer, and smaller. Could they be cockerels? They are 5 weeks.View attachment 2099516View attachment 2099523View attachment 2099529
Update on my girls. 20 weeks give or take. My gold's are blue with straight combs. Regardless, I think they are pretty. The two single shots are of the two girls facing forward in the group picture.

Wow this thread is old!

I was wondering what you guys thought of Wyandotte rooster temperaments, mine is 5 weeks and the sweetest cockerel I've ever had, but I was wondering what you guys thought of your roosters.

He is a single combed silver laced.
