The Wyandotte Thread

I guess it depends

If its just lighter, maybe it's not white. But it really doesn't matter too much if that's the only one you have

You just have to keep your eye on it. You don't want to get too much white on the wings especially! You also have to watch wing carriage. It can get pretty bad in just a generation or two, so if that's also a weak point, make sure you keep hens that are better...

You brought up a point with the feather shafting I'd like to address.

Has anyone even seen a good blr roo without this? I've been looking and either haven't found photos that clearly show the feathers or it has been present. There is no standard, but does any proposed standard even mention this?

Wow, I'm going to have to go eyeball my dark blue rooster now. LOL. I don't have a splash cockerel to check. I have two black blr roos but they have other issues that will send them to freezer camp if I can find a taker. I don't want anyone using them as breeders.

Hey Steve! Here is some of the BLRW I bought from you in June. I love them! My most beautiful birds. By far an improvement on what I had before.

His color looks good to me but he's small. I hope he gets a lot bigger. They are just 6 months now. He's only 5 months in this picture. And we have A LOT MORE SNOW!

I'm looking into getting some chicks in the spring from another breeder and crossing. Its a learning process for me!
Some of the pictures are small, sorry its just a phone camera.

They're looking pretty good from what I can see. The snow fooled your phone's metering into underexposing the birds. They do look chunky for 5 month birds.

here is my new SLW roo.
