The Wyandotte Thread

If i remember right, it's a sexlinked and if the roo is silver laced, all your hens will be silver laced but doesn't work the other way around. not sure what the roos look like. these birds might have the incomplete lacing- someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Slw roo over Glw hens gives slw pullets and "golden" cockerels (look like slw with gold leakage)
Glw roo over slw hens gives glw pullets and "golden" cockerels - this is a sexlink cross.

No incomplete lacing as the pattern genes are all present, but as stated above, the roos will have gold leakage. The ones I've seen grown out are silver in the chest and have gold leakage in saddle & hackle feathers.

I had an interesting outcome from a blue Wyandotte rooster over silver laced hens. I got 1 silver laced blue rooster and 1 gold laced blue hen. They were both very pretty

My new pair of Bantam Columbian. They are one of the sweetest chickens I have owned so far! I would love to get another hen to put with them. Can I put a laced hen with them and have laced chicks? Or will the Columbian be dominate and screw things up

What color would you suggest?

Young pullet Bonnie & Young Roo Clyde

I wouldnt cross anything into those. They look good as they are! If you put a laced hen with that male all you would get is a big mess....

I'm with Wyandotte TX, I wouldn't cross those nice Columbians on anything! They're nice. There is also a "Buff" Columbian pattern, but I'm partial to the white ones.
We have Black, Columbian and Barred Wyandottes right now. I am hoping to add SLW to our flock. All are bantams. I would love to add a LF variety, but not sure what
just yet.
So many choices.............
