Okay had to share this one. Here is a picture of a 5 day old Bantam Silverlaced. Check out the lacing on this little bugger!

I have been eagerly awaiting this one, it is out of my Pullet that won several BB's last fall & her equally handsome RB boyfriend!

I know! I can't believe it, I had to ask my hubby if I had counted right!lol But they feather in really quickly in the Catbox brooders we have. I have discovered that since we started using them.

My chickies are here!!!! Arrived this morning, and cute as the dickens. I ordered 20 GLW, but they're running around so much I can't get an accurate count. I think there are actually 21 or 22. Gotta figure out how to post a picture...

So, I went home at lunch time to check on the little critters. Seem to be doing great. Eating and drinking and running around.

What accounts for the differences in color? Some seem much darker than others (sorry, I'm really ignorant - this is my first chicken adventure). They're all hatchery standard GLW...

Thanks!

Here's one of the lighter ones:

And here is a whole bunch of the darker ones together:

You know what's fun? Watching the babies feather up ... seems like every single day they look so different. Here is lacey (hope it's a hen) at 15 days old. All my chicks are looking very funny these days, with the fuzzy stuff and new feathers ... 'bad hair day' comes to mind.

Shelly WNC - you are so right. My little group is about 15 days old and they look about like yours, some are a little ahead of the others getting feathers but everybody is some combination of fuzz and feathers. What really amuses me is when they stretch their wings out and I see these wings that look way too big for the rest of the bird. Wish I had decent camera!!! Everybody's pics on this thread are so gorgeous!!! Keep 'em coming!
