The Wyandotte Thread

For partridge wyandottes I know yellow/ gold in their hackles is un-preferable. How long do you think it would take to breed this out? I have 2 hens with gold in their hackles but other than that are very nice birds and lay ridiculously well even in this heat (90-110degrees). Their main flaw is the color but I have a nice darK male over them and another "spare" male who also has nice dark coloration. Neither show gold. I was planning on taking the best females and breeding them back to their father or the other rooster. So far a miracle has happened at my farm and I only have ONE cockerel out of 14 chicks. I still has some more that need to feather out but I have a suspicion they will be female as well. The young cockerel doesn't show any gold (yet) but the females do. Thoughts?

Ours had the same problem. We have one very dark male over our hens and have had an improvement in hackle color-it just takes time, but you should see improvement.

What color is this bird? She originally looked like a gold laced with gold and black feathers but lately her feathers have changed to a charcoal/slate gray

Can anyone tell me what breed this is??? Can't seem to find anyone in my area that can identify.
Here is another pic of her/him?
looks like an easter egger to me... most likely rooster from the saddle feathers I see...

the telling points were the dark legs, pea comb and ear muffs. can't really see, but i'm guessing he's bearded as well.
