What a pretty girl, her lacing is lovely. Its wonderful that she found a happy home with youThought I would share a "Happy Ending Story" of one of my wyandottes. I bought some LF Partridge Wyandottes up in OH and one of the 4 had a crossed beak. She was scruffy, pail, severely under weight and in general in very poor condition. My guess is she was in a small pen with a lot of birds and with her deformity she just couldn't get what little food there was from the other birds. Once I got her back she was over joyed to see food and gorged herself being fairly aggressive toward the other birds. I brought her and the rooster back to my house in Virginia for the time being while I was at school. The rooster and her were in a nice spacious pen with two other birds. I came back a few months later and I didn't even recognize her. Her feathers were shiny and beautiful, she was round and plump and she was strutting about as happy as a clam. The only way I could tell it was her was because of her cross beak. Just goes to show you just giving them a good environment, fresh water, food and some tender love and care goes a long way.
P.S. - Don't worry she will never be bred because of her skull deformity. She will forever be a happy hen that gives us eating eggs![]()
No eggs ready here yet. I moved the blue roo into a new yard with some black hens so I can test breed him. So far the hens are not allowing him to breedAnyone going into lock down tomorrow for the NYDH. Just slightly excited over here![]()
